If you're interested in the film's production as well as its subsequent impact on US cinema at the time, then there is an excellent summary on Wikipedia. Having recently rewatched the entire franchise, courtesy of the Shout Factory's Friday the 13th Collection Deluxe Edition, I have a few thoughts I'd like to share. The picture quality of all the films is very good, offering a lot more visual information compared to previous releases. The amount of "extras" included in the box set is prodigious.
