| | | | | Note: We no longer use this. I have an updated post for the new setup. Our church uses iPads and Dymo printers for children check-in. Parents check in their child, a label prints on the printer, and they stick the label on the child's shirt. We use Planning Center Check-ins of course, and it's great! One downside to Dymo printers, however, is that their software only runs on Mac and Windows, necessitating a full computer connected to the printer. | |

Initial Setup First things first let's enable network discoverability on both PCs. Open up Control Panel, go to Network and Internet, next Network and Sharing Center and click on Change advanced sharing settings Then expand the Private tab and use the same settings as I do, only enable File sharing if you need it. | |

| | | | | A family member has a Canon PIXMA MP250 printer, originally released in 2009. It has been a very reliable piece of hardware, especially for a printer. Then came Windows 10. The printer would not work out of the box with it and the official drivers got stuck during installation. Fiddling with the printer in device manager, trying to install drivers via Windows Update and stars aligning got the printer to work again. | |

| | | I had that Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W lying in a box. And because I changed my network configuration, I decided I could use that Pi as a DNS et DHCP server. But I also wanted to take benefits from my POE switch. It turns out to be really simple, with the proper hardware. Here are the notes. | ||
