| | Local cycling charity Camcycle has raised £30,120 via the 2024 Big Give Christmas Challenge, the seasonal match-funding campaign joined by over 1,000 charities across the UK. The funds raised will support Camcycleâs âCambridgeshire Community Placemakersâ project, which helps empower local groups working for better walking and cycling routes and sustainable, healthy neighbourhoods. The amount raised was a new fundraising record for Camcycle. Gifts came from 120 donors showing more people than ever getting involved in the cause. Match funding was provided by two local donors and The Reed Foundation, the founders of the Big Give platform. Camcycle aimed to raise £30,000 in honour of its 30th anniversary in 2025 and to enable it to increase its impact on quality of life in Cambridgeshire. When infrastructure is improved, it allows more people to walk, wheel and cycle, delivering many benefits to individuals but also the wider community through cleaner air, safer streets and reduced congestion. Some of the community groups Camcycle has worked with in 2024 include Mill Road For People, Cambridgeshire Families for Sustainable Travel, Milton Parish Council, Girton Parish Council, Shirley Primary School, Madingley Road Area Residents Association, Arbury Road East Residents Association, Riverside Area Residents Association, Cambridge Living Streets, Hunts Walking & Cycling Group and Fenland Parent Power. With the support of Camcycle, the Better Walking for West Chesterton group won their campaign for new active travel links as part of the Westbrook centre redevelopment. The city councilâs planning committee approved the development with the condition that the developer must deliver new links to Corona Road and Lilywhite Drive and make provision for a connection to Gilbert Road. Nick Flynn, of Better Walking for West Chesterton, said:

| | For Christmas, one of the gifts that I got was a Belkin WeMo Switch. It was only $30 on sale, and while it had middling reviews (like many of the WiFi-switches), it could be controlled through cURL commands, which made it very easy to hook into Victor. So I set it up, plugged in my light, and spent like 20 minutes trying to set it up with the app, which kept losing the connection. I can't really say it was easy to setup, but it's worked since fine, and it is indeed very easy to programmatically control.

| I decided to write a new series of blogposts related to python programming language and its interactions with Oracle. Python is a powerful scripting language with a lot of packages that can be installed for various stuff (scientific computing, dataviz, machine learning, deep learning etc.). In my case, I used python for many things and...
