| | If you have spent any time in gaming hardware circles, then you've probably heard about the Steam Deck, the Linux-based handheld gaming PC built by Valve. Yes, you heard that right: not Windows, but Linux. I've had my fair share of attempts at gaming on Linux. When it works, it's amazing. When it doesn't, it's incredibly frustrating. The last thing I want to do when playing a game is to become a developer and start troubleshooting issues with all the layers between the hardware and the game.

| | KDE Slimbook 2 Review The kind folks at Slimbook recently sent me the latest generation of their ultrabook-style laptop line for review, the KDE Slimbook 2. You can hear my thoughts on the latest episode of the Ubuntu Podcast, released on June 7th 2018. Slimbook are a small laptop vendor based in Spain. All the laptops ship with KDE Neon as the default operating system. In addition to their hardware, they also contribute to and facilitate local Free Software events in their area.

| Note: the original post was written in 2017 when there weren't many posts discussing direct attacks to firmware flash. It also took a while to get in touch with the ISP to give them a chance to fix some of the issues described (in particular the ACS access) and then it was left in draft mode until today. I just made a quick revision and fixed quite a few dead links.
