This is a Walt Disney animated fantasy that deserves comparison with the great Disney animation of the past. Jolly, inventive and filled with a gallery of colorful villains and heroes, it tells the story of a mermaid's love for a human prince - and of the evil octopus who strikes such a hard bargain that she almost steals him away from the heroine. The computer-assisted animation is wildly inventive and cuts no corners, the original songs have life and spirit, and like the best from Disney's glory days, this is not a "children's film'' but one for all ages. |
