| | [AI summary] The history of climate change research shows that scientists have long recognized the potential impact of human activities on the climate. From the early 20th century, there were discussions about the greenhouse effect and its influence on global temperatures. Over time, as more data became available, the consensus among scientists grew that increasing concentrations of greenhouse gases, particularly carbon dioxide, are a significant factor in global warming. Key milestones include the 1958 discovery of the Keeling Curve, which demonstrated the steady rise in atmospheric CO2 levels, and the 1970s and 1980s when the scientific community began to more clearly understand the implications of these changes. By the late 20th century, the evidence supp...

| | Climate change is happening now. Record-setting heatwaves, devastating forest fires, intense tropical storms and extreme flooding are no longer distant predictions, they're daily events. In The Climate Book, Swedish environmental activist Geta Thunberg has gathered the expertise of over 100 climate scientists, oceanographers, engineers, economists, philosophers and Indigenous leaders. Each has written a short chapter,...

| Abstract. In the last decades surface exposure dating using cosmogenic nuclides has emerged as a powerful tool in Quaternary geochronology and landscape evolution studies. Cosmogenic nuclides are produced in rocks and sediment due to reactions induced by cosmic rays. Landforms ranging in age from a few hundred years to tens of millions of years can be dated (depending on rock or landform weathering rates) by measuring nuclide concentrations. In this paper the history and theory of surface exposure dating are reviewed followed by an extensive outline of the fields of application of the method. Sampling strategies as well as information on individual nuclides are discussed in detail. The power of cosmogenic nuclide methods lies in the number of nuclides availa...
